Absturz!!!

Gestern Abend hab ich meinen besten Freund verloren... Nach nur 5 Minuten im Netz hat sich mein Laptop von mir verabschiedet, Lichter ausgeknipst und Tschö gesagt! Für immer? Bis jetzt habe ich ihn nicht retten können aber ich hoffe, dass sich da noch irgendwas machen lässt. Morgen schaut sich der Computerdoktor meinen kleinen Helfer an und dann weiß ich mehr. Drückt mir die Daumen! :(

      Yesterday evening I lost my best friend... After only 5 minutes online my laptop said goodbye, turned off the lights and didn't come back. Is he gone forever? I couldn't save it until now but there is still some hope left in me. A computer doctor is going to check my laptop tomorrow and I'll know more by then. Cross your fingers for me! :(

My first day at work

Aaaach, glücklich und zufrieden falle ich nun erschöpft ins Bett: Heute hatte ich meinen ersten Arbeitstag und er war einfach nur toll. Ein wunderbarer Job, super nette Kollegen und ein schönes Arbeitsklima. Die Arbeit macht so sehr Spaß, dass der Tag wie im Flug vorbei gegangen ist. Ich hoffe, ich komme trotzdem bald wiede dazu hier zu posten. Bis dahin: Gute Nacht und schlaft gut!!! :)

      I'm falling into my bed now, exhausted but incredibly happy: Today I had my first day in my new job and it was just amazing. A wonderful job, very nice colleagues and a great working atmosphere. The work is so much fun and the day went by in no time at all. I hope, I'll have the time to post again soon. Until then, good night and sweet dreams!!! :)

Istanbul, I'm coming!!!

Ein alter Traum geht endlich in Erfüllung: Nächste Woche fliege ich für vier Tage nach Istanbul! Mein Freund und ich haben den Trip ganz spontan gebucht, weil ich in Kürze eine neue Vollzeitstelle antrete und das Pfingstwochenende vorerst die letzte Möglichkeit sein wird, zusammen wegzufliegen. Von Istanbul habe ich schon so viel gehört, dass ich es kaum erwarten kann, endlich Fuß in die Multikultimetropole zu setzen. Am meisten freue ich mich natürlich auf den Großen Bazar... :) Habt ihr irgendwelche Tipps oder Adressen, die ich auf keinen Fall verpassen darf?? Ich bin sehr dankbar für jede Empfehlung!

      An old dream comes true: Next week I'm going to Istanbul for four days! My boyfriend and I have booked the trip very spontaneously, because I'll start a new full time job soon and, for the time being, the Whit weekend is the last opportunity for us to fly away together. I have heard so much about Istanbul and I cannot wait to set foot on this multicultural metropolis. Most of all I'm looking forward to the Great Bazaar, of course! ;) Do you have any tipps or addresses that I cannot miss?? I'm very thankful for any recommendations!

Ich mag große Accessoires! Statt auf ein komplettes Schmuckset - bestehend aus Armreifen, Kette und Ohrringen - zurückzugreifen, finde ich es immer schöner, sich für ein Accessoire zu entscheiden und dies dafür besonders hervorzuheben. Da kommt mir der Trend der "Statement Ohrringe" gerade recht! Mal wieder war Chanel der Vorreiter als das Label auf seiner Modenschau für Frühling-Sommer 2011 die Models mit endlos langen Ohrringen auf den Laufsteg schickte. Louis Vuitton ging in dieselbe Richtung und schnell war klar: die neuen It Pieces sind ohne Zweifel gaaaaaaaaaaaaanz laaaaaaaaaaang... Hier habe ich ein paar rausgesucht, die mir besonders gut gefallen:

      I love big accessoires! Instead of choosing a complete jewellery set - consisting of bracelet, necklace and earrings - I prefer picking just one accessory and emphasizing it. That is why I'm crazy about the new bold statement earrings. Once again Chanel was the pioneer when the label send its models on the catwalk with never-ending earrings, on its spring-summer 2011 fashion show. Louis Vuitton was next and it quickly became apparentthat the new it pieces have to be veeeeeeeeeeeeery loooooooooooong now... These are some earrings I picked because I liked them most:

Mein Souvenir aus dem Hotel Costes in Paris ist die Zeitschrift Palace Costes. Das Magazin ist etwas ganz anderes, sehr französish eben, und hat mich vor allem wegen der wunderschönen Fotografie begeistert. Ein Artikel ist mir besonders aufgefallen: "Infomania" über die Künstlerin Marina Bychkova und ein Fotoshoot mit Puppen...

      My souvenir from the Hotel Palace in Paris is the magazine Palace Costes. It is really something special - very French - and I love the beautiful photography in it. There was one article that caught my attention: "Infomania" about the artist Marina Bychkova and a shoot with dolls...

My need to work with dolls became evident as a calling when I was six years old. As a child I became painfully aware and appalled at the mediocrity and the uninspired dullness of mass-produced dolls. This profound frustration coupled with my natural sensibilities inspired me to create my own dolls, suited to my own ideas of feminine beauty. A particular point of interest for me was not only the life-like articulation of the body, but also the beautiful balance between a delicate form and an extraordinary function of a doll.

When I needed to come up with brand name to give my dolls an identity, I decided to name them after Paul Gallico’s fictional, short story called “Enchanted Doll”, where a young woman creates dolls with so much love that they enchant people at first sight with their compelling, delicate, life-like beauty.

And this is my goal also.

Rankin Live! Project

Den Star-Fotografen Rankin kannte ich bereits durch die Sendung Germany's Next Topmodel als er uns auch während des Masters vorgestellt wurde. Der freie Fotograf und Mitgründer der Zeitschrift Dazed & Confused hat schon alles abgelichtet was Rang und Namen hat: allen voran, sein Lieblings-Topmodel Heidi Klum, die Queen, Kate Moss und die Rolling Stones.

Davon hat er also genug und deshalb möchte er nun UNS fotografieren! Anfang nächsten Monats schlägt Rankin sein Studio in der Milk Gallery auf und jeder kann dabei sein. Einzige Bedingung um sich für ein Shooting mit dem Fotografen zu bewerben: Man muss über 16 Jahre alt sein. Ist das der Fall, schickt man ein eigenes Foto und eine knappe Erklärung, warum man von Rankin fotografiert werden möchte, an: rankinliveusa@rankin.co.uk. Die originellsten Bewerber werden dann zu einem Shooting eingeladen und von ihm fotografiert. Die entstandenen Porträts sollen Teil der Wanderausstellung von Rankin sein, die gestern begonnen hat und noch bis zum 10. Juni gezeigt wird. Also, wer sich gerade in New York befindet sollte sich schnellstens aufmachen zur 450 West 15th Street, wo die Bilder aktuell gezeigt werden und wo auch Anfang Juni die Shootings stattfinden werden. Dein eigenes Rankin-Portät kannst du dir übrigens für 100$ kaufen. Der Erlös geht an Oxfam und somit an einen guttätigen Zweck. Wenn ich zu der Zeit in NY wäre würde ich es sicher mal versuchen. Aber leider leider leider bin ich viiieeel zu weit weg... :(

      I already knew the star photographer Rankin from the show Germany's Next Topmodel, when he was presented to us at our Vogue postgraduate studies. The independent photographer and co-founder of Dazed & Confused has shot some of the most famous people in the world: above all, his favorite topmodel Heidi Klum, the Queen, Kate Moss and the Rolling Stones. So now he seems to have had enough of it and that is why he wants to shoot US! At the beginning of next month he brings his studio to Milk Gannery and everyone can be part of it. Only condition to apply for being shot by the photographer: You must be over 16. If you are you can submit a photo of yourself and a brief explanation to rankinliveusa@rankin.co.uk. The most original will be invited to be shot by Rankin. Their pictures will then be part of Rankin's rotating exhibition which opened yesterday and runs through June 10.Therefore: if you are actually in New York City you should go to 450 West 15th Street as quickly as possible to see the Rankin exhibition and the place where the shoo will be early next month. Btw: you can buy your own Rankin portrait for only $100. The proceeds will be given to Oxfam, the global anti-poverty charity.If I was in NYC right now I would definitely try and do anything to be shot. But unfortunately, New York is far far far away from me.... :(

Ein paar nützliche Tipps um den Schrank aufzupeppen. Ich mag vor allem den Schuhteil. Ich hatte schon öfters daran gedacht, die Schuhe in Kartons zu verstauen und mit einem Foto  zu markieren aber dann war es mir doch immer zu viel Arbeit... ;)

      These are some useful tipps for getting your closet organized. I specially like the shoe part. I have thought about putting my shoes in boxes and tag them with pictures before but then it always seemed like to much work... ;)
