Dior without Galliano

So gespannt war ich schon lange nicht mehr auf eine Modenschau... Die neue RTW Kollektion von Dior, entworfen vom exzentrischsten aller Designer - John Galliano - zum ersten Mal ohne den Hauptdarsteller. Nachdem der Brite vom fanzösischen Modehaus gefeuert wurde und er seine eigene Fashion Show auf der Modewoche in Paris abgesagt hatte, wurde die letzte Kollektion von Galliano für Dior mit hohen Erwartungen betrachtet. Das Ergebnis hat mich enttäuscht. Farben und Stoffe unterschiedlichster Art unterstrichen den Bohemian Chic der sich wie ein roter Faden durch die Kollektion zog aber kein echtes Highlight war dabei, das unvergessen bleibt. Gallianos Spezialität ist eben doch die Haute Couture. Zum Ende gab es diesmal keinen Piraten oder Astronauten, sondern eine Mannschaft, die normalerweise nicht in der Öffentlichkeit steht: die Schneider und Schneiderinnen der neuen Kollektion. Es hätte sicher einen imposanteren Abschied für Galliano geben können. Dem Anlass entsprechend entfernt er sich aber schweigend aus dem Modegeschäft und hinterlässt 14 Jahre Arbeit für das Haus Dior.

I haven't been so curiousabout a fashion show in a long time... The new rtw collection from Dior, designed by the most exentric of all designers - John Galliano - first time presented without the protagonist. After the British talent had been fired by the French fashion house and after suspending his own fashion show for the Galliano label, the new Dior show was contemplated with great expectations. I must say, the result dissapointed me. There were lots of colours and fabrics that underlined the bohemian chique, which were a recurring theme throughout all the collection. Nice designs but no highlight that remains in memory. Gallianos speciality is haute couture for sure. In the end of the show there was no pirate or astronaut but a team that normaly works behind the curtains: the tailors of this collection. Of course, there ould have been a more imposant farewell to Galliano. But, according to the occasion, he removed in silence out of the fashion business, leaving 14 years of work for la maison Dior.
